Pitts, Willis. Cancer and the Power of Positive Thinking. Total Health, Vol. 15 Issue 3,(JUNE 93): PG38. Health Source - Consumer Edition. 29 oCT 2010.
Summary: This article speaks of cancer and the severity of it. It talks about how at this time on average cancer took a life every single minute. It was highest killer of kids from age 3 to 14. As much money and effort that is put into finding a cure for cancer there is still no luck, and no matter what awesome thing the world does the cure for cancer is not one of them. This article talks about how the first step for the development of cancer is the break down of the immune system. It has been proven that the immune system is improved with good self esteem, happiness, and an over all positive thinking.
Reflection: I like this article just because it is a scholarly source to show what I already knew. The movie The Secret features a lady who got breast cancer and was cured within 3 months with no treatment except for laughter and positive thnking. Its proven that stress creates disease, which makes sense if the immune system can be improved with positive thinking then the immune system can be put down by negative thinking. I personally know a person who was paralized, they told her her level of severity which would be from right below the arms down, 3 months later looking at those x rays again realizing that they diagnosed her wrong, and she is was supposed to be a quadrapalegic, but because she thouht she was supposed to still be able to use her arms, she can.

Summary: The mind-body connection plays a huge — and hugely underestimated — role in our ability to heal ourselves. The placebo was very underestimated and thought to be bogus until the mid 1950's when studies were done and the affect of placebo's started to become taken seriously. "Salt injections masquerading as morphine actually decreased pain; fake knee surgery improved mobility in the joints. Conversely, "nocebo" effects (the unpleasant, and even harmful reactions that arise in a patient after taking a placebo as a treatment known to have negative side effects) also had to be considered." This article also talks about drug companies and how this would affect them. It refers to the fact that people are conditions, which is true, to reach for medicine and to of course only THINK IN THEIR MIND that a pill is the only thing that will save them.

Refliection: The Placebo affect is very helpful when it comes to backing up the law of attraction. The law of attraction is based on bringing what you think. Of course if you think the sugar pill is medicine it is definitely going work like medicine. The article also speaks of how when people see a doctor in their typical white coat they already start to feel better and less stressed, this wraps back to the law in a way that it is proven that stress creates disease so if you are taking something even though it doesn't have any medication in it you are creating a healthier you just by feeling better and less stressed. You are what you think.

The law of attraction is supposed to be as apparent as the law of gravity, everyone knows if you drop something it falls, if you jump off of something, you land. how can attracting something to you using your thoughts and feelings be as obvious as something like gravity? if you can attract everything that you want into your life then why are there people who do not have good lives? why are there so many people who do not know about this?
the law of attraction is an amazing power with perfect accuracy. whether it is green lights, a parking spot, or a new car with all of the features you want in it for a price one would think you could not get.. using your thoughts, your actions and most certainly your feelings you will bring those things to you, if i am thinking about how mean the person is that i just talked to on the phone at work i am going to be sending out a negative feeling wich in the end will only bring me more negativity whether it is tomorrow or next week.
the law of attraction can be explained through science, newton who is very well known has very corresponding laws, like the law of motion, all matter in the world including me adn you are made up of vibrating energy, constantly moving, constantly changing, we shed thousands and thousands of skin cells off of ourselves everyday and they renew with no effort. the law of attraction is like attracts like. it as been proven that thoughts can be measured and are on a frequency so to speak, there for they are matter as well - they are their own energy - there for if like attracts like then your thoughts will attract like things

The Phillip Morris add was published in 1955. A young girl is the center of this add, she has the look of what would have been considered very popular and attractive at that time. She has short hair done up in a bob, high cheek bones, long eye lashes and full sexy lips, beautiful features that come with being young and youthful. The cigarette add is colorful, but in a very classy way, the model looks as if she is in a blissful state of mind, almost as if nothing in her life could go wrong. The colors are to attract youth, they actually remind me of a little kids bedroom which is sort of creepy in subliminal genius way. If you are some high and mighty money hungry cigarette company owner you will love to have young kids looking at a cigarette add that looks like a coloring book, start them off young. When you look at the CigarLet add which is geared towards "men" not boys or girls you will see that it is much darker, the edges are darkened and it doesn’t have a feel of mild and gently, everything is more bolded and has an old fashion look. The Cigarlet model doesn't look blissful he has an exterior of a hard, sort of hostile "manly man".
"For those with keen, young tastes" this add is meant to give one the feeling that if they are smoking PHILLIP MORRIS they will look younger, feel younger, or maybe just been seen as having the taste of what someone in the prime of their youth would have, being young and beautiful is something that is admired. The Cigarlet add is meant to be more masculine- with dark colors and a man as the main view, he has this sort of "bad ass" smirk on his face. The advertisements are repetitive for what they are gearing towards "a smoke to please a man" in the beginning and "a smoke to please a man" at the end- there are only a few lines in-between; the Phillip Morris add also says the word "young" twice - with not much in-between. In the description of the cigarettes it reads "...with its qualities of gentleness and delicate flavor. These qualities tell why PHILLIP MORRIS has made so many friends among young smokers- with their fresh unspoiled tastes" So the company is saying that not only will these cigarettes taste good to you if you are a young person but that young people have already jumped on the band wagon and began smoking these cigarettes by finding out for themselves. It is a bit creepy but this add can definitely pull in both young and older people. Young kids could use this add as an excuse to try cigarettes or to justify smoking them at a young age - and then of course to older people, they want to be young, they want their youth back - so here is how.
What stands out to me in the Cigarlet add is the tone of the picture, it reminds me of a gangster movie for some reason, bad ass with his "cigarlet"- his women comes over and lights it with a candle because he is such a bad ass so that he only like his cigs lit with a candle stick. This is a very different impression then the one I get when I first look at the 'this is subliminal for kids to pick up smoking now' add " makes PHILLIP MORRIS naturally gentle and mild" - "naturally" - giving the idea that the tobacco naturally tastes gentle and it naturally tastes mild - it naturally tastes different then all the other brands and it must have natural ingredients too.
Both adds featured has the name of the brand in BOLD to make it stand out even when you are reading other words.
Overall I think there is a very good possibility that both adds were very affective in trapping minds of both a young and a old crowd into the nicotine world.

Reality at Different Angles

Reality is Up to You
Jose Chung said, "Truth is as subjective as reality." So what is reality? Is it truth to all, or is it different to every person perceiving it? Can something untrue to one person be truthfully true to another person? When someone refuses to believe something, what they are believing will be their reality, whether it happened or not.
Throughout the episode of "Jose Chung's From Outer Space" you are challenged to think of what really happened to a young couple while listening to several very conflicting point of views.
Agent Scully can be considered very close-minded in this situation. There was a possible alien abduction of a young boy and girl named Chrissie and Harold, and Agent Scully is the most skeptical, she would rather play this off as a story meant to cover up for the truth the teenagers do not want to tell. Every time that something is brought up in the case suggesting that aliens abducted the couple she has a counter act to suggest the opposite, she refused to except it could even be a possible conclusion. Agent Scully had an odd experience that one would think would change her mind. She experienced an amount of elapsed time that she had no recollection of, this is common for supposed alien abductees to experience but since she is so set in her mind that that could not happen there is no way her mind would let her think that could be a possibility of reality. There was even a witness to tell her everything that happened; not just any witness, her long time partner who she should be able to trust. She would think he is off the wall for what he has to say before she could ever come to terms with the denial she has of that even being possible. To her, her reality is quite more ordinary then a couple of men erasing her memory.
Agent Mulder on the other hand believes that not only is it extremely possible that the young boy and girl were abducted but that it most certainly did happen. Being a believer that an alien abduction is beyond just a possibility it is almost as if he wants it to be true. Everything that happens he can back up immediately by evidence that he has seen in similar cases in the past that he of course believes really happened. For example immediately after interviewing Chrissie he knows that she has 'Post Abduction Syndrome' though in context most of the questions he asked her could be common for someone going through a dramatic situation to experience. When told about the 'men in black' by a witness named Rocky, Agent Mulder immediately said that it is common for people who have a close encounter to meet these men who warn them about talking, again assuming he really did have a close encounter.
Blaine’s way of thinking is much different from Agent Mulder’s, other then the fact that he “knows” aliens are real. It does not matter what seems more plausible- it is whatever he has decided in his mind is real - it is exactly what he wants to happen. Reading his books he has become educated on life outside of earth and would love to be a part of it. He has an intense way of thinking and seems to see things as being more intense then it really is, almost shaping his reality with his attitude. When Blaine found the body of a supposed alien I am sure it was a dream come true, accompanied in this dream were 2 people dressed in all black more specifically an android and a man disguised as a women. Because Blaine has done so much research on aliens he thinks he is an expert and his thoughts come out almost as a conspiracy. Reality to Blaine is much more distorted because of his intense views and strong beliefs as to what would happen to him in a world filled with aliens. What seems to be a shift in physical reality for Blaine happens even with small details. Agent Scully, also known as the man disguised as a women, supposedly told Blaine in a stern voice “you never saw this, this did not happen, you are a dead man.” This is highly unlikely considering Agent Scully is a major skeptic and already assumes that the alien body is not real, her strong belief system would not let her think any different until proved wrong. Whether Agent Scully said that to Blaine or not, of course it is not a coincidence that Agent Mulder would also tell him he would be a dead man if he told anyone about his tape because that’s just how Blaine’s life goes. Everything in this boys mind seen as reality is shaped by the way he perceives the situation; with ever step in the case Agent Mulder's reality is shaped by what he believes can and has already happened in the past; everything in Scully’s situation is played off as something logical, because of what she believes.
This episode really shows you how this can happen in every day life. When people have beliefs it is hard for them to see past them, as if past experiences condition the way certain situations are perceived therefore multiple people could see one thing completely different then the other. Though the word “reality” would make one think of something that is real, reality is what happened, or what is true. It can definitely be argued that reality is subjective to each individual person therefor not necessarily true because what seems to be true to one person can be completely wrong to another person. When this happens and those people have conflicting points of view it can be hard for the human mind to except that reality to them might have been slightly altered because of what they already believe. Though, after all, if we were not experiencing and perceiving something, then there would be nothing to call reality.

Standing kitty corner, past the cars waiting for me to cross I could see many people congested between white topped tent covers, I can hear faint blue-grass styled music coming from what sounded like a live band. Most people you mention the Farmers Market to will tell you that they go every Saturday of the season, even if it is just to see "what's going to be at the Farmer's Market today?" When I first entered the “market” I had to make a very serious decision, what do I look at first? The Farmers market is filled with so much of a variety that there is sure to be something of interest for ever person attending. 

Some people come to the Farmer's Market just for fresh vegetables and fruits, you really can not go wrong with home grown. You can find the darkest red cherries, they are so juicy and potent they will stain your fingers when you take a bite. There is a man in overalls, he has that typical farmer look to him, long gray beard and accent that would make you think Tooele is in a different state. Lets call him John. Farmer John was the master of home made salsas. There were people swarmed around his area which was set up with samples, he had everything you could think of from Mild to Jalapeño to Tamatillo Avocado, about 10 different kinds lined up in a row. “Very few people taste them, and walk away without buying them,” said Farmer John with a proud smile on his face.

For a large portion of the female "species" there is an interest to jewelry that they are born with. Here you can find homemade jewelry, this can be very inviting because often times that means it will be one of a kind. You can find very 'interesting' jewelry, jewelry I am sure that only very 'interesting' people would wear. Big and gold, gaudy as hell, gargantuan charms to go on necklaces, like hands, dragons, and bleeding hearts even all in one. The lady at this particular jewelry stand had long dark hair and dark eyes bold-ed all the way around with thick purple eyeliner. She wears multiple rings on each finger. She had what looked like ten different gold chains on her neck with one large charm. The charm itself looked like a tree branch growing out of her neck, it had a hand coming out of the end of it holding what I suppose was supposed to be a crystal ball. Do not be alarmed though if this sounds to extravagant for you rest assured you could walk around for five more minutes and find some, what most would call, normal jewelry. Dainty and cute, accompanied by stylish feathered headbands and scarfs that can be used for skirts.

 One of the things that makes it such a welcoming environment is that more people will bring their dogs then they will bring their kids. Greeted by people in blue shirts that reads “Best Friends Animal Adoption,” be prepared to be sucked into instant "mushy puppy breath love land". Puppies and even full grown dogs socializing wear little aprons on their back that read “Adopt me.” they’ll make you think twice about what it would be like to have them in your family. Sure to catch your eye because he is most likely bigger then you, a gold colored mastiff mix with slobber coming out of both sides of his mouth, his eyes drooping downward but he still looks like he he smiling, how could you not fall in love.

Filled with entrepreneurs with all different talents in making, and growing; all around creating. Very good vibes coming from everyone, a social environment where people just want to share what they can offer and you can really feel that. It is hard to concentrate on one thing in this environment because there is just that much you want to see and experience. Walking away you still hear and feel the very social and worry free vibe of the Farmer's Market. I often times leave the Farmers Market with nothing but a smile, I love going there to see what there is too see, there are always interesting people as well, it can be different every time.

Much like Blaine, it does not matter what seems more plausible- it is whatever he has decided in his mind is real - it is exactly what he wants to happen. Blaine is a bit more intensive as this happens with even small details - for instance when Mulder came to get the tape and he swears that Mulder told him he would be a dead man though that is highly unlikey. Everything in this boys mind seen as reality is shaped by the way he perceives the situation; with ever step in the case Agent Mulder's reality is shaped by what he believes can and has already happened in the past.

This episode really shows you how this can  happen in every day life. When people have beliefs it is hard for them to see past them, as if past experiences condition the way certain situations are perceived therefor multiple people could see one thing completely different then the other. When this happens and those people have conflicting points of view it can be hard for the human mind to except that reality to them might have been slightly altered because of what they already believe. 

The Store for Anyone

Standing kitty corner, past the cars waiting for me to cross I could see many people congested between white topped tent covers, I can hear faint blue-grass styled music coming from what sounded like a live band. Most people you mention the Farmers Market to will tell you that they go every Saturday of the season, even if it is just to see "what's going to be at the Farmer's Market today?" When I first entered the “market” I had to make a very serious decision, what do I look at first? The Farmers market is filled with so much of a variety that there is sure to be something of interest for ever person attending. 

Some people come to the Farmer's Market just for fresh vegetables and fruits, you really can not go wrong with home grown. You can find the darkest red cherries, they are so juicy and potent they will stain your fingers when you take a bite. There is a man in overalls, he has that typical farmer look to him, long gray beard and accent that would make you think Tooele is in a different state. Lets call him John. Farmer John was the master of home made salsas. There were people swarmed around his area which was set up with samples, he had everything you could think of from Mild to Jalapeño to Tamatillo Avocado, about 10 different kinds lined up in a row. “Very few people taste them, and walk away without buying them,” said Farmer John with a proud smile on his face.

For a large portion of the female "species" there is an interest to jewelry that they are born with. Here you can find homemade jewelry, this can be very inviting because often times that means it will be one of a kind. You can find very 'interesting' jewelry, jewelry I am sure that only very 'interesting' people would wear. Big and gold, gaudy as hell, gargantuan charms to go on necklaces, like hands, dragons, and bleeding hearts even all in one. The lady at this particular jewelry stand had long dark hair and dark eyes bold-ed all the way around with thick purple eyeliner. She wears multiple rings on each finger. She had what looked like ten different gold chains on her neck with one large charm. The charm itself looked like a tree branch growing out of her neck, it had a hand coming out of the end of it holding what I suppose was supposed to be a crystal ball. Do not be alarmed though if this sounds to extravagant for you rest assured you could walk around for five more minutes and find some, what most would call, normal jewelry. Dainty and cute, accompanied by stylish feathered headbands and scarfs that can be used for skirts.

 One of the things that makes it such a welcoming environment is that more people will bring their dogs then they will bring their kids. Greeted by people in blue shirts that reads “Best Friends Animal Adoption,” be prepared to be sucked into instant "mushy puppy breath love land". Puppies and even full grown dogs socializing wear little aprons on their back that read “Adopt me.” they’ll make you think twice about what it would be like to have them in your family. Sure to catch your eye because he is most likely bigger then you, a gold colored mastiff mix with slobber coming out of both sides of his mouth, his eyes drooping downward but he still looks like he he smiling, how could you not fall in love.

Filled with entrepreneurs with all different talents in making, and growing; all around creating. Very good vibes coming from everyone, a social environment where people just want to share what they can offer and you can really feel that. It is hard to concentrate on one thing in this environment because there is just that much you want to see and experience. Walking away you still hear and feel the very social and worry free vibe of the Farmer's Market. I often times leave the Farmers Market with nothing but a smile, I love going there to see what there is too see, there are always interesting people as well, it can be different every time.

Overwhelmed by colors you can get any piece of fabric in tye dye, with too many colors too pick a favorite.  There is a beautiful Bob Marley blanket hanging up, it was dyed with green, yellow, and red and it had gold flake like looking paint around the edges with sort of sparkly black fabric behind it. It was very eye catching, there were 3 other people looking at it at the same time as me. You might noticed how stoned Bob looks, his eyes are rather red. The entire place is filled with entrepreneurs with all different talents in making, and growing; all around creating.
